Delusions of Everyday Life Rating: 4 on a scale of 10 Review This is what I would call a specialty book. Its appeal will be mostly to folk who do therapy and such. I thought it sounded interesting. It is looking at delusions from a Freudian perspective. If you are comfortable with Freudian terminology this will be an easy read. For me it was a bit of a struggle but not bad. There are many cases discussed in the narrative. These are interesting and instructive. I will have to say I am not so much a Freudian at heart. I made it through the book and was pleased to find pearls here and there. He has a literary bent and likes to go through classical literature that illustrates many of his points. These are interesting and informative. I can't say I am real excited about this book. I am glad I read it, but if I hadn't, I would not have missed very much in my opinion. The pearls here and there may be worth it, "and that's all I have to say about that." All opinions are those of Curtis Climer, MD Copyright 2010 |
