Lisa Matlock, FNP

Lisa Matlock is a long time member of the Gervais and Woodburn communities. She graduated from Woodburn High School. She is married to David Matlock, and they live on a farm with a large nursery  just outside of Gervais, OR, where they raise a variety of crops and nursery stock.

For many years she was the resident care manager at the Providence Benedictine Nursing Center on the skilled care unit. For the past several years she has been a nurse manager at the Salem Hospital while she worked on her Masters of Science in Nursing at Western University of Health Sciences. She has recently completed her training and is readying herself for her certification test. Some of you met her in the fall of 2009 while she was doing an outpatient  Medicine rotation with me. It has been her goal to work with older people in just the kind of practice we offer. I have known her for 15 years and  believes she will be an excellent addition to our practice. We look forward to her arrival.

She has a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Oregon Health Sciences University. She completed her initial Associate Degree in Nursing leading to her Registered Nurse status at Chemeketa Community college. For the past couple of years she has been working on a Master of Science degree in Nursing from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California.

Lisa has a special interest in the care of older folks. She has spent most of her nursing career caring for the elders of our society. She focused her Nurse Practitioner training in this direction also, however, as a family nurse practitioner she can see younger people, too, with no difficulty. We will maintain our practice of seeing only patients over 12 years old with her also.

Her personal interests include quilting, camping, fishing, bicycle riding, and of course her passion, following the Boston Red Sox.

Welcome Lisa when you meet her. Those who prefer to only see me may do so. We hope to establish Lisa with an active base of clients who will see her as their primary care giver. I will always be available for more complicated issues/cases, hospitalization, procedures, etc.
